Lets talk Hair...

Lets talk Hair...

Yes your Hair.

Your hair and/or hairstyle is one of the most important components when it comes to defining your style. Having a signature tailored hairstyle is right up there with wearing the right kind of supportive underwear and being honest about your REAL clothing size. They all tie in together to form the perfect slim look from head to toe... so lets talk about the head part.

One of the reasons why i really haven't blogged about hair yet is because we all have our own styles and ways of dealing with our lovely tresses. We also don't all fit the hair 'norms' as much as the hair industry wishes we did. But ive recently been receiving emails asking if i know any tips or tricks when it comes to hair so im going to do my best to fill you in on what i know!

On this blog, when it comes to tips, i usually will recommend things that have worked for me or my colleagues so that you can make have someone's first hand experience to learn from before you try things out yourself. So as i share, just keep an open mind and try things out and see if they work for you... lets continue.

....

I recently was asked if my hair was naturally straight... :) nope. Like most women i use a straightener but not just any straighter. I have realized in my journey to find the perfect straightener that there are a lot of awful tools out there that end up ruining your hair more than fixing it.

(ME - Before and After using CHI Straightener)
I do NOT have straight hair as you can see above. When i blow out my hair i end up with a giant curly mop of hair that refuses to be tamed.

During my undergrad i was blessed to have hairdresser friend who listened to my woes and recommended me the CHI straightener that she absolutely swore by to achieve the magazine straight look i wanted. Now the CHI straightener is a product I swear by. I seriously SWEAR by it. This is an investment you NEED to make to truly have straight hair.

The best part about this product? Its lasts forever! I have had my CHI for almost 5 years now, yup, the same CHI.

PRICING:
Back in the day i bought my CHI for $140 bucks and its truly worth every penny. Of course i would never ask you to pay that price on MY blog so i did some research and found CHI's for way less online! Here are the Deals:

Preparing to flatten hair:

When straightening your hair, especially if you have long hair, its important t use a heat serum to protect your hair from the heat damaged caused by ANY hair tool (Hair dryer, curling iron and straightener).

I use and recommend the
CHI 'Silk Infusion Serum'

Amazon.com $8.50 CLICK HERE
Drugstore.com $10.99 CLICK HERE
Folica.com 14.99 CLICK HERE

All you have to do is use a small drop and apply to end of hair. It makes you hair so soft, protects it from the heat, and leaves a wonderful smell. This is what i use. The small bottle lasts forever too!

I also like and use
Paul Mitchell heat seal

Googlookingdiscounts.com $6.75 CLICK HERE
Folica.com $7.49 CLICK HERE
Amazon.com $9.55 CLICK HERE

Again, this is a trusted product i use to protect my hair from heat damage as it grows out.

How To Use A Flat Iron:

(CHI being used in picture)

-- Brush your newly dried hair to remove any tangles. Apply a small, dime-sized amount of a hair serum before any heat styling. Divide the hair into sections and butterfly clip your hair to the top of your crown, leaving the hair around your neck loose and ready to style. This is especially important if you have thicker hair or a lot of layers to your style.

-- Take an inch to two-inch section of the loose hair and starting about an inch from the roots, slowly pull the flat iron down the length of your hair. Try not to work too high towards the roots, as it will have a flattening effect. Do not pull too hard or too fast as well. Take your time!
